GameSir VX2 AimBox Review Play Console Games with Keyboard and Mouse
With a keyboard mouse adapter for console like the GameSir VX2 AimBox (seen pictured), you won't have to ditch your mouse and keyboard, which is neat as you can play console games with your favorite mouse and keyboard. VX2 AimBox is console adapter so, it only works on consoles, not computers.
VX2 AimBox is an upgrade of the original VX AimBox, which is a neat little adapter that lets you play console games with keyboard and mouse. All you need is the original games console controller (or licensed 3rd party controller) and you're good to go.
VX2 AimBox is virtually a clone of the original VX2 AimBox so, you can't really tell them apart. VX2 AimBox retains the same plastic shell construction, dimensions (60mm deep, 80mm long and 10.5mm high), weight (85 grams), reversible USB ports and led bars on top as the original VX AimBox.
The main upgrade over the original VX AimBox is a built-in auxiliary 3.5mm audio port that now let's you plug in a wired headset into VX2 AimBox and have the audio passthrough from the console, which is something you couldn't do with the original VX AimBox. The only platform the 3.5mm audio jack doesn't work with is the PS5 console.
The second main upgrade you get with the new VX2 AimBox is support for PlayStation 5 (PS5) games, which means you can now plug a PS5 controller into the VX2 AimBox and run PS5 games on the PS5 console - something you can't do with the original VX AimBox. You can still plug in a PS4 controller too and run PS4 games on the PS5 console as the PS5 console supports the PS4 controller.
Other platforms still supported by the new VX2 AimBox are Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/Series X consoles so, you can use their respective controllers - Xbox One controller, Xbox Series S controller and Series X controller with the VX2 AimBox.
VX2 AimBox also comes with mobile app support via the GameSir App, which lets you tweak in-game settings such as mouse sensitivity and Aim Down Sights (ADS) keybinds, although the WASD keys are not remappable so, you cannot re-assign the buttons on the mouse and keyboard to any configuration you want.
VX2 AimBox also supports wireless or wired keyboard and mice, although the mouse gets a lot of input lag by default. Luckily, you can download the GameSir World app and tweak the sensitivity (~80), smoothness (~60) and curve (~50) to reduce the input lag.
Is VX2 AimBox worth getting? Absolutely, yes! But, keep this in mind. You can only use the same number of keys on a keyboard that you can with a controller. This means, you won't be able to use two separate keybinds such as interact/reload because a controller uses 1 button to do both, which is super annoying and confusing at first but you do get used to it.
VX2 AimBox doesn't support playing PS5 games with the official PS5 controller, only with Sony licensed third-party controllers. Even then, it's not worth buying the VX2 AimBox & a Sony licensed third party controller just for playing PS5 games with a keyboard & mouse because there are not many PS5 games, and there is limited compatibility with PS5 games on VX2 AimBox only PS5 exclusives like Returnal.
