The new flagship SoC!

It highlights the Snapdragon Elite Gaming optimization, support for mult-gigabit 5G, Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor, and the 4th-generation multi-core Qualcomm AI Engine.

As expected, the Snapdragon 855 will be manufactured using the 7nm process the TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company). The 4th-generation multi-core Qualcomm AI Engine promises up to 3x the performance versus the previous NPU solutions.

TechCrunch reported that it will have a tri-cluster setup. It will have four 1.78GHz power-saving cores, three high-end 2.42GHz cores and one super core clocked at 2.84 GHz.

It will also have the Adreno 640 GPU for gaming that will be boosted by the Snapdragon Elite Gaming optimization.

The Snapdragon 855 will also feature the  X24 LTE modem and X50 5G modem for ultra fast mobile internet connection.

The Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor is the enhanced version of the Ultrasonic In-Display fingerprint scanner which allows fingerprint scanning even when the display has a screen protector on the top.
